This can be a personal choice depending on preference of administration. To look at this question based upon pharmacokinetics, which means what the body does to the CBD once ingested. A tincture, which are drops that are placed under the tongue usually has a greater degree of absorption into the bloodstream directly through the oral mucosa in the mouth, specifically under the tongue. A gummy on the other hand is taken orally and then swallowed and is then metabolized by the liver which reduces its CBD bioavailability in the bloodstream comparatively to a tincture. So if you are looking for a higher concentration of active CBD in the bloodstream then we recommend using a tincture. However, if you are not too concerned with blood levels of your CBD and prefer taking your CBD orally via a gummy then have at it. Also, the bioavailability is also determined by the actually dose of the CBD per dose.
This question is not so easy to answer because there are so many different ways to administer CBD. Vape able, smokeable, tincture, gummies and topicals come to mind right off the bat. My personal preference is to use a topical whenever possible. The reason I say this is because it is probable the safest way to treat any condition and is very effective. I say this based upon my experience in the working with a pharmacy that compounds topical medications for patients that are diagnosed with chronic pain. The theory behind topical is that the medication, i.e. CBD is applied locally to the affected area with a very small amount of the product entering into the bloodstream. The less amount of anything in the bloodstream is always the safest way to treat anything. Oral CBD circulates systemically throughout the body “treating” everything in its path, including areas where you might not want it to go, whereas a topical product usually stays where it is applied with little to no systemic absorption. This is not to say that oral CBD is unsafe but for some people it may present an interaction with another drug which may not be the desired effect.
